Brophytees are mosses and liverworts (and hornworts).
The society is celebrating its centenary this year (2023).
The BBS was inaugurated on the 1st January 1923, as the successor to the Moss Exchange Club which was formed in 1896. As the name implies, this late Victorian group focused on accumulating specimens in private collections many of which now reside in institutional herbaria.The learning area is a good place to start, and includes some excellent ideas for getting started in this area of Natural History.
It will be interesting to see what aspects of these species end up in the final specification.
